Gametype mods and forge maps with extra pieces (amount, not entirely new pieces) are the only things that work on retail (normal) 360s. To do any other mods you need to solder in a modchip, which means you lose Xbox LIVE. It's a bit more complicated than that, but the premise is you have to spend a hundred or more buying the modchip, then you have to solder it in, then you lose the ability to go on Xbox LIVE (the console will get banned).

Last time I checked the cool runner chips were only $26, the QSBs were about $5 and jr-programmer is something like $25?.

The latest chip that's coming out sounds pretty cool.

I find it sad that people still complain that I don't put my .map mods on my fileshare lol.

Well, tack on at least another 15-20 dollars for equipment like a soldering iron and quality solder. So maybe not quite 100
