Retail How To Get High Quality Screenshots On Your Computer!

10 posts in this topic

(This is the first part of the Swapping Maps tutorial, I just thought it deserved it's own topic)

All you need is Container Edits V4 (Uploaded by me), a transfer cable and Xport. This works on Jtags, Devkits and retail xbox 360s.

First off, you need to find a great picture you want to use on your computer. Take a screenshot of it in theater and save it.

Turn off your xbox and switch to the computer. Connect your HDD with your transfer cable and start Xport. Locate your profile.

Open up the Halo 3 sub-folder and the 00000001 folder in that. Now look at the files that start with screenshot; then look at the date on the right. Find the date of the day you took the screenshot and extract that file to the desktop. (You must disable UAC to do this) Then open Container Edits V4.

Click the big xbox logo and click "open." Locate your screenshot file and open it. Click the logo again and click "preview." If the image is not the right one, go back to Xport and extract another. Once you have the right file, check the "Halo 3 Image" checkbox and then press "Extract." Specify a save location then you're done! You now have a high quality image without having to be bothered with Bungie.net and little kids saying "omg haxxor modz lets ban dis guy!"

you can do this however if your on a dev it would be a waist of time. being that the SDK can screencap and record videos for us in perfect HD and alt has been setup for taking pictures all we have to do is tell it to take screenshot whenever we want. in the newest version of alt that has a keyboard shortcut of F1 so all we have to do is press that and it takes a perfect HD pic for us
