Why Oklahoma State Will Succeed Without Trae Young

1 post in this topic

Trae Young just announced he will stay home and attend OU to play basketball. Good for him.Oklahoma State appeared to be a long shot, as many people predicted the contest to get Young was between two other Big 12 teams Cade Ballard Jersey, Kansas and Oklahoma. Here's why the move doesn't hurt the Cowboys. On the roster right now, the Cowboys have two true point guards: Jawun Evans and Brandon Averette. They also have Thomas Dziagwa, Tavarius Shine, Phil Forte, Lindy Waters, Davon Dillard and Jeffrey Carroll who are all guards on the roster.Zack Dawson and Amauri Hardy in the 2017 PG commitment class. Dawson and Hardy both have four-star rankings, according to ESPN. They also have two power forwards in the 2017 class, Latravian Glover and Souleymane Diakite. Yankuba Sima has transferred in from St. Johns, and will be eligible to play in the 2017-18 season. Who are the Cowboys losing this year? The seniors leaving are Phil Forte and Leyton Hammonds  Jawun Evans seems to be a toss up as to if he leaves for the draft or not.  Jeffrey Carroll is a long shot to go to the draft in my mind. Other than that, I don't see a lot of players leaving the team. There may be a surprise player that transfers out, but for the most part, the team is staying intact. So, it isn't the worst thing in the world that Young decided to take his talents to that other school in Oklahoma. If he is as good as advertised, Young will likely be a one-and-done. Joel Penfield referenced Ben Simmons and LSU in our Slack chat. Be the star of a bad team, and get drafted high. Would I have liked to see Young in orange and black? Yes. It's going to be just as fun beating him too. Young likely didn't pick OSU because of the depth of guards on the roster. Same at Kansas. OU was the only place he could go and be guaranteed a starting spot.So good luck to Young in Norman. I'm sure the 10s of fans will love to watch you play.Less than 5 minutes until tip between OU-TXJohn Walker (February 15 Isaiah Filisi Jersey, 2017The Cowboys will be just fine without the five-star PG. Brad Underwood will mold his team to be bigger and better than it is this year. Just watch.
